Grounding Systems

Has anyone installed a grounding system in their M2? I wanna purchase one, but don't they normally run from the battery for the ground and then to the engine? If so, the damn battery's up front unlike most cars. I see them advertised for the M2, but always in a grouping of other cars and I don't think this is taken into consideration.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll post dino's of my header and exhaust gains later this week.

One thing I have to do before I run my MR2 again this year is to check all my grounds. I have made my own for the engine block already and will probably just do the same for the rest.

honestly, its cheaper to make your own. Go and get some thick speaker wire and terminals.

It was just temp. until I get some different wire. Temp is better than a car that wont run correctly / catches on fire.

It's just wire, that's about all. Get yourself some black speaker wire (4 guage probably) and just replace the stock grounds. The 'fancy' kits with the grounding blocks probably don't do anything else that's worth paying for.

only 1 of my engine grounds is even visable.. the rest are tucked around the motor, or in the frunk. they all do absolutely nothing, its just extra protection.

You're kidding right? Try disconnecting them and hooking up an ohm meter... you will be shocked. I had all kinds of problems with my car until I fixed the grounds. Whenever somebody complains about poor throttle response or stuttering or other electrical issues my first bit of advice, check the grounds!

thats because you had poor grounds.. if all your factory grounds are intact, you wont have any issues.

Wow that would suck, your speedo needle actually caught fire?

yup, because the main ground came off the tranny. So the car attempted to ground itself through the ebrake cables, throttle cable, and speedo cable that runs from the tranny to the speedo.

Similar question...

While driving, my gauge light goes out randomly at night. I can't find out why it does it when it does, it just goes out when it wants to. Sometimes smacking the dash brings it back on, or going over a bump, and other times it wont come back on for awhile. It doesn't happen a lot, but enough to piss me off. The needle for the batter gauge bounces too during this. It doesn't bounce a whole lot, but noticable.

Could bad grounds be causing this?

Bad grounds can cause all kinds of crazy ****! Seriously don't ask questions, just test/ replace your grounds and see if your stuff is fixed, it needs to be done anyhow.

My headlights used to shut off by themselves every now and then before I fixed my grounds.
