weird lighting problem

I just bought this 92 mr2 and love it. I have a problem with the lights in the dash. When I turn on the lights the headlights and the rest of the exterior lights come on but none of the interior lights come on. I pulled the bulb and harness from thr cigarette lighter, easiest light to get to on that circuit, and tested it. It has two wires and when the lights are off both wires have a negative signal and when the lights are turned on both wires have a positive signal. When I bought the car all the lights worked perfect. Please help me out. Thanks

is the knob to the left of the steering wheel with a pic of a light bulb on it turned all the way to the right?
