So what are you going to use now Yellow? Full stand alone unit? now would be the time to do it. You could spend your time wiring it yourself. I managed to wire the celica engine into my mk1.5 and I'm a wiring noob, I'm sure you could wire up a stand alone using the idiot guide that comes with them, it is actually really easy, way easier than re-wiring stock looms imo.
Oh yeah free bump lol. |

There are lots of systems out there and basically you choose the one that suits you and your preferences. I like link engine management because that is what is common over here and the most tuners are familiar with. There is also microtech and a bunch of others, the honda guys like megasquirt because it is a cheap DIY kit that has a lot of functions but it requires a lot of research before you launch into it. A lot of tuners specialize in a couple types of engine management systems but not others, the knowledge transfers across to a point but remember you will be paying for them to learn as they go and dyno time is expensive so it is best to stick with what your tuner knows. Ask about the systems he likes and the generation (normally there is generations of as the company improves them) and google them and find out as much as you can, the more you know the better.

The Greddy unit is a piggyback on steroids (you still need the stock ECU). The AEM is a full standalone.
It's a good little unit, BTW use the honda non-vtec setting for the 5S. Open up the software, it's really pretty easy to navigate. Rev 1's will have to get a little creative with the grey wire for the TPS (wire it to a map sensor or?!). Here's a link on how to datalog a wideband O2 with the emanage blue (yes its from a honda board, it's the first one I could find. Check celica tech if it really bothers you): Emanage wideband O2 Logging Free bump, good luck with the sale. |
