FS: 1992 Subaru SVX LS-L
Item Location: Whitehouse Station, NJ

I'm been trying to sell my other car so I can pay back the loan I took from my grandparents to buy my MR2. I don't know if anyone is interested in it on here, but I figure the more exposure the better. Its a 1992 Subaru SVX (the one with the weird windows and nice flat-six), top of the line LS-L Touring trim package, AWD, LSDs in all three differentials (front, center, and rear). Needless to say, traction was never an issue for me in this beast, even in the worst weather (snowy parking lots are fun late at night!). I've always taken excellent care of her, and if I could afford to keep both I would, because the MR2 just isn't as good in the snow as I'd hoped it might be, even with decent all-seasons. At this point though my parents want it out of there driveway, and I need to pay back my loan, so someone else is going to have to enjoy her for me. There is a more detailed FS thread at the SVX World Network, and on my webpage. I am going home to NJ for my winter break on the 18th or 19th until January 13th if anyone in the tri-state wants to try and see it (or buy it!) during that time.

Suppose I should have put a price in here: $5250 or REASONABLE offers, because its modified and includes some extras like summer and snow tires each on their own sets of rims for easy swapping.

my MR2 is bomb ass in snow w/ some good snow tires. Ice however is another issue....the ass end likes to become the front end lol.

SVX's are fun cars. I have a buddy that tracks one. Good luck with your sale.

They are awesome cars, especially with a Level10 rebuild on the automatic transmission. The shifts are hard and fast (good for the life of the trans, less slippage and wear on the clutch packs), and with the 4.44 gears I put in the diffs it pulls great too.

As far as the MR2 and snow... I'm still learning how to drive it in those conditions. I pushed her a little too far the other night turning onto a side street, and ended up with the back end in a driveway and the nose facing back towards the street I just turned off of. I got lucky, a few more degrees of rotation or a little earlier start and I would have hit a curb. Earlier in the night I had played a little bit in a parking lot and found it is actually pretty easy to regain control after inducing throttle over-steer, i just overdid-it that time, or maybe hit some ice, I'm not sure.

What I may end up doing, since I'll be home in NJ for winter break anyway, is to bring the SVX back here to Williamsport, PA and keep it here until it sells, then use some of the money for winter equipment for the MR2 (if I can find snow tires and wheels... TireRack stopped carrying the steelies they had for the MR2 sometime in the past month or so. I'd had a set picked out for about $400 shipped just a few weeks ago, now its disappeared from their site). I'll post an update to this thread if I decide to do that, since it changes the geographic market for the SVX.

Do you have full on snow tires for your MR2? If not and you're going to winter drive it I strongly recommend that you consider it.

I wish I did, but I can't find any for sale even if I could afford them right now. TireRack had a set earlier this year, they were even staggered fitment and narrower diameter, but they stopped selling either the front or rear steelies, I don't remember which. I'm having a lot of trouble finding a winter wheel/tire set anywhere for it, actually. The SVX actually has the same bolt pattern so the set I have for it should fit the MR2, but they aren't staggered and they are not a good size (16x7.5, 38 offset IIRC) for winter use on the MR2. If anyone knows where I could get even just winter tires for the MR2, I'd appreciate a tip, as searching hasn't turned up much (not surprising really, since most people don't seem to DD MR2s in the winter). I've got BF Goodrich Traction T/As on it right now, and they honestly don't feel significantly better in the snow than the dry-rotted Avon summer tires that were on it when I bought it last winter.

OK. I'm going to take a hit here, because I really need to move this car and pay back my grandparents. At this point thanks to my loan terms I owe them more than I originally borrowed. So, I'm dropping the price again, $5,750. I will still entertain reasonable offers as well. Anybody?

Ah, the perils of administering my own web server. Thanks for the heads up, Apache is restarted, links should work now.

Haha, sorry, no. Oh, but it does come with all the common SVX problems (transmission, warped rotors, and rear wheel bearings) fixed, and the rusted out exhaust totally replaced with brand new parts.

Nope. I'm about two and a half hours north of there right now, and the car is three hours from here in NJ.

Don't know why I didn't think to post a pic before. Here she is, in all her beauty with her summer shoes on. There are more pics on my website, http://svx1992.selfip.net/svxforsale.htm, but I just realized how many links you have to follow just to see them. So, here's one, go there for more. Also, I'll be in NJ from tomorrow until Monday sometime, partly for Mom's day, partly to get the Two inspected since she's due. If anyone is interested get in touch with me by email, svxforsale_at_reaper450128.homeftp.net, or PM me on here, and we can set something up.

If the site isn't working tonight I'll have it fixed tomorrow afternoon, it seems like there might be an attack running on it at the moment. Can't login remotely, can't view the website, can't get in by FTP, all of which started in the last 10 minutes. Oddness. PM might be the better choice to reach me for now, since that email addy is for that server as well (its kind of a jack of all trades server I set up for fun).
