Brake light problem

Ok guys, not sure this is the right place for this post but here it goes.

I'm new to the mr and havent worked on one yet, but i have a problem with my brake lights. They stay on all the time.... worthless... even when the cars off the lights remain on like someones stomping on the brakes. When i physically lift up the brake pedal with considerable force, the lights go off. Please someone tell me what i need to do to fix this!!!

There are two adjustment nuts on that switch to set the position. You can play with those first and see if that helps. It sounds like the switch is working in that it does cut off if you pull the pedal far enough out, but the range of the switch operation could be out of spec. If the switch is bad, the part numbers are (assuming you have a 91-92):

84340-30070 (w/cruise control) - approx $55 (full retail)
84340-32030 (w/o cruise) - approx $27 (full retail)

You can check pricing with Carson Toyota which I'm sure will quote you a better deal that the prices I listed.
