what exactly needed for brake swap

Hi everyone,

I drive my little 91na a lot. I have recently put autoboner pads on the back, but one of my rotors was chewed to hell.

My question is what EXACTLY is needed to upgrade to the 91-93 turbo brake set up. Also, if possible the 94-up brake setup.

Can I purchase just the master cylinder & calipers from autoboner(autozone)?

Will I need caliper brackets or proportioning valve from a turbo mr2?

Are the hubs from a turbo needed (I know the wheel bearing is the same but sometimes caliper bracket mounting points are different)

Please help if you have done this swap before.

I am going to have to get rotors and pads soon. If I have to I will go with stock brembo rotors and ebc pads(if they have them for the nonturbos)

THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP

Ok I decided to do some research myself....

94-up turbos have 10.8in front rotors and 11.1in rears .9729729729 ratio

91-95 nas have 10.2 and 10.4in rotors .98076923 ratio front to rear

I also found a place that sells centric rebuilt calipers with new caliper pins and mounting brackets included-- so if these will fit a na hub then Im golden! I can just buy the calipers/brackets rotors and pads and bolt it up.

master cylinders are easy enough to get and install.

I can get a proportioning valve too, eventually. not a big deal w/less than 1% difference.

OH crap. I am forgetting one thing. Will my little wheels fit?? prolly not.

The proportioning valve might make more of a difference than you'd expect. If you leave the NA valve in place then the rear tires will lock up before the fronts when threshold braking.

What?! i dont think the rear rotors are bigger than the front. fronts should be bigger than the rear since they carry most of the weight of the car when braking.

rears are bigger than fronts. we have a lot more weight in the rear

the company is meyer's western auto parts, but any centric brand calipers can be ordered w/brackets

i've decided to stick w/na brakes and get a late model turbo master cylinder....save money for swap

I just had a strut mount go bad so there goes an extra 55 for kyb mount

If you don't have the cash for a clip are you sure that you've got the cash for all the bits that you need out of one? Usually it's more expensive to buy them all piecemeal.

93 2 swap w/lsd 1400 +shipping
gen2 half cut 2400+shipping

you would be surprised what i can do with a thousand bucks

I should only need shifter cables, cv axles, and fuel pump

and I will need a wiring diagram--Ive seen a cd on ebay for 3 bucks I dont know how good it is though

I dont know maybe im fooling myself but I called the engine importer and they said it would come with afm, ecu, harness, igniter

There is one junkyard with a couple picked over mr2s and I can always buy from chico or ats. At this point I am tired of driving a slow-ass na

I have done a vtec+obd0to1 motor swap in a civic and rebuilt an integra motor and I also have a friend who swapped in a 4g63 in his CRX who can help me

Trust me I will let everyone know how its going

heh, you're not buying from venus are you? if so, good luck. venus likes to leave parts out, or swap them around, or do weird stuff with their motorsets.

no, not venus - ive never heard of them

I am getting the swap from the same place one of my freinds got the same swap and everthing was there > he said he paid 1200 shipped to Las Vegas.
This was 2 years ago, though, plus I want the lsd tranny

we'll see what happens. I am just pushing the 5sfe at 160000+ miles to its limit. I don't really want to have it break down on me and I dont want to spend the time to rebuild it.

I hope to sell this tranny(shifts good) and some other parts once I get the swap in.

I do not have 26-2800 to get a half an mr2 shipped to my house.
I don't have a place to put a half an mr2 in my garage.
The back half of my 2 is almost perfect > I dont want diff taillights or any of the other bs

Like I said I have a friend who did this swap 2 years ago:
It came with all needed parts for the swap, I saw the motor/turbo looked good. I am sure the kid was happy who he swapped it for

I found shifter cables from some guy on the uk ebay for 70$US he also has some cool emblems and wings and stuff from the uk turbo mr2s

I am not worried about the brakes until I get more speed.
