Suggestions?

Ok, i got my car back from the hellish shop that i took it to when my engine seized up. They got it freed up and it's driveable, but it's been running wierd as of lately. I picked the car up on thursday (3 days ago) and just today it started to make a squeeling sound when i am in the 2k-3k RPM range. My dad took a listen to it, and said he thinks it might be the pressure plate? Also, i hear a little bit of rattle from the valves i think. Possibly a valve tap. I'm not sure if this is stuff that the shop did wrong, or what. I really don't want to take it back to the shop that had it, for the really bad experiance they gave me. How much does it usually cost to have the valves adjusted, if that is my problem with the rattle noise i hear. I am also wondering suggestions as to what the squeel could possibly be. Let me know what you think. I will give more information if needed.

You more than likely have rod knock. Why didn't you just buy another 5s and swap it in? You would of came out on top most likely. Is it possible for you go get a sound clip of this noise? That would do more good than words.

BTW. Never heard of someone freeing up a seized motor. Usually when that happens it's bes to leave it dead. All sorts of problems can arise. Obviously.

I don't really see how that is possible. I lost an oil pump to my first 5s. Didn't even seize but when I tore it apart the bearings looked like hell. You would have come out cheaper buying a 5s and having some buddies help you swap it in. Unless you got an uber cheap deal from this shop.

Where are you located? You can buy my 5s (45k) if you're relatively close. It's in very good condition, started it the other day.

Shops do lie.

no where close if your location is right in your profile lol. I live right outside DC.
The shop said that gas got into the oil pan somehow and leeked into the pistons. Two of the pistons were fine, but the other two were stuck.

Haha what a story, gas got into the oil pan somehow and got onto the pistons and cause it to seize.. How is that possible.

How can gas leak into pistons? Isn't combusting gas what causes the pistons to move down in the first place... If you're still planning on doing the 3sgte swap and you have a DD just screw the 5s and get the 3sgte swap. No point in dumping money into a engine you're not going to keep in the long run.

For a 3sgte swap, I have no idea. Talk to PETC, he just did a gen 3 swap. He's your man. I personally don't like the 3sgte. I'm a V6 man.. (If I could afford one)

Are they referring to hydrolock? Sounds like it. Fuel is thin enough to seep past the piston rings and wash off the lubrication on the cylinder walls. Two injectors could be leaking. Most likely in the cylinders where the pistons seized.

The early 5S with batch fire/non-synchronous fuel injection suffers from fuel pooling in the piston cavity. A leaking injector will only worsen the issue.

if you think its valve top its not rod knock. rod knock is loud and very distinguishable. I think your engine is fine, and is your squeek more of a squeel or a squeek? it could be a throwout bearing or a pulley bearing or if its a squeel it could be a belt too

I thought it was a belt squeeling at first as well. But it doesn't seem to be coming from any of the belts (unless it's the timing belt) it does sound like it's coming from the transmission, but i'm not 100% sure.
