auto wont run right in gear

ive got a 91 auto n/a 5sfe finally got everything straight to get it running. new wireharness new comp. it runs great in park or n but when you put it in drive it bogs down bearly pulls and if you let off it will die, put it in n or p and it starts back up and runs great till you shift. Anyone have any ideas??

your idle must be a little low, adjust the screw on top of the throttle body under the rubber gromet and see if it helps

i also forgot to mention it flashes the engine light whent it does this. The idle is around 900

The problem is the fact that the MR2 is rejecting the automatic transmission much like a human body rejects a body part that is not its own.

The only solution is to remove the cancer and install a 5-speed.

Does the car have cruise control? If so, the problem could be related to that. I had a friend swap an automatic from a 93 with a 5 speed from a 95 and had very similar symptoms to what you described before they swapped the cruise control computers as well. I'm not sure if unplugging it will do the trick or not. What code is the computer giving?

i have no idea of the code. can you tell me haw to read it? or do you have to have a scan tool? i can swap the computers i have another car thats wrecked that was running before i started takeing off parts.
