stuck lower oxygen sensor for headers

i was wondering if anyone can help me figure this out. i just installed my headers on my 91 mr2. and i have seen pictures of other NA with headers without the secondary oxygen sensor on the bottom? how do you bypass that? because my oem oxygen sensor is stuck on my oem headers. i was just curious coz most of the headers i saw on pictures dont have secondary oxygen sensor on the bottom. how do you guys bypass the secondary oxygen sensor? thank you very much.

all california cars have the 2nd o2 sensor. remove it and install it in your new headers, dont try to bypass it.

o2 sensor

then how come i see some headers installed w/o their seconday O2 sensor? look on the pic of the headers of nixmix, he just covered the whole on the headers with the plug. but for the record i am doing my best to put that on. i just wanna know how others dont put it on after they have their headers.

Because its only for CA cars, any other car only had 1 sensor.

Hi!!!! Just new to here...

I think that the secondary toyota oxygen sensor will be located next to the catalytic converter. The location of the two sensors are generally the same on all vehicles right?. Just asking if my knowledge is really correct...

the idea is that the second o2 sensor isnt actually an o2 sensor, its a catalyst monitor. its supposed to monitor cat efficiency, so the location is pretty much standardized for all cars, even today.

the second sensor is always right after the cat, usually within inches to it to help heat it up faster.

on mr2's, its just toyotas way of faking emissions compliance and the sensor is actually worthless. you can have a 100% failed cat, and the sensor will show that its working. having the sensor plugged in and operative is just necessary to keep the check engine light off, and ecu happy.

o2 sensor

i ordered the sensor from auto zone. and here it is. this sensor doesnt come with the wiring plug. so all i did is cut the old wire plug from the stock exhaust i have and connect the wires to this new ones. i bought it for 41 bucks. the original oem cost about 70 bucks. the only difference is the 70 bucks comes complete with wire connecting plug.
