What is this vac thing for
I dont understnad what this vacuum diaphragm is for. Its located on the throttle body and pushes against the throttle swivel to keep the plate slightly open when there is no vacuum, but as soon as vacuum is applied, it sucks in and doesnt touch the throttle. What is this for?!

So the fumes can rise out of engine?? Thats what would happen right as I turned off my 5s and white smoke would come out that smelt like gas.

Its a mechanical safety thing, If the engine is dying, for some unknown reason, then the vacuum also drops, extending this rod that opens the throttle plate a little and keeps the engine running. I dont know the official name.

Why did you pull it?
If it's completely extraneous deleting it from the system might help with vacuum leaks if that diaphragm is failing. Interesting ... |

if it was 100% useless toyota wouldnt have included it..
if its leaking down, you can physically see the plunger touching the throttle wheel. theres just not much to the system. |
