tool for checking engine light warning

i just have a question about the tool that is for checking engine light warning. according to BGB the SST 09843-18020 is the tool i need to use to connect E1 and TE1. my question is can i use a ordinary wire to connect the two terminals, or is it really important to use the tool they recommend, the SST? its just to me the SST looks like just a piece of ordinary metal wire. thanks

i got the diagnosis. the paper clip worked. i got a code number 25. im hoping its just the oxygen sensor coz i change that when i installed my headers. im really hoping its just something to do with the wires so i can take care of it. thanks again. if that doesnt work then i will move on at the rest of the trouble area.

i went at the gas station and to get the car full tanked and bought those gas treatment. since it mentioned injector i was thinking maybe the injectors were dirty maybe that is why running lean. i drove it for a good while and the check engine light did not lit up. i think that works for now. hopefully it wont light up again or else i will check my wiring at the new oxygen sensor, and maybe buy a new water temp sensor and if that still did not work ill be buying a brand new oxygen sensor the upper one which is very expensive i think its about more or less than 100 bucks

A lean code is very odd for a 5SFE.

It might be time for you to pull the injectors and have them professionally cleaned and balanced.

jason, do you think if i put that injector cleaner, the mix that you put in the gas tank after you put a fuul tank, do you think that will clean my injectors good? i just put a brand new oxygen sensor on it. hopefully that will work since the oxygen sensor is also mentioned there anyways. if this doesnt work then i guess im gonna have to do what you said. have them taken off and cleaned it really good.

The injector cleaner might loosen some of the gunk in the injectors, but they'll still be out of balance. Ideally, you want the flow to be within 2-3% of each other, but as the mileage tacks on, they become up to 10-15% out of balance with each other in terms of flow. Thus you can run lean in one cylinder, and run rich in another. It's no good for performance or engine life.

My 1MZ injectors were 9% out of balance with only 70k miles on them. They only have 0.8% flow deviation between them now. Very balanced.

Keep that in mind when using temporary solutions such as injector cleaner.

RC Engineering and Witch Hunter are two shops that I know about that offer professional cleaning and balancing.

RC is in Torrance, CA, while WH is in Bothell, WA.

www.rceng.com (~$26 per injector)
www.witchhunter.com ($17 per injector)
