dome lights not working

the dome lights in my '91 na arnt working anymore. for some reason they just up and stopped coming on. i pulled the cover off and changed the bulbs and they still dont come on. the chime still plays when your keys are in the ignition with the door open as well as the clock and door open light on the dash. Ive checked every fuse on the floor by the pedels as well as the ones in the front bay (the 15A dome light fuse). They're all good.

has anyone else had this same problem and found out why its not working??

the contacts that the bulb touches are tight against the bulb when its in and the bulb is turned to the right spot. i cant find out why they're not working. any info will help.

Thanks.

You're going to need a meter and some electrical knowledge. The plunger connection in the door jamb seems to corrode alot on these cars. Also how about if you try the passenger door?

When I got my 93 the dome lights didn't work at all sometimes, sometimes just with the switch but not the door. Turned out replacing the switch on the passinger door jam fixed it. It was weird because the bad switch still seem to work OK as far as turning the interior lights on the doors on/off.

I think the dome light circuit has a relay in it, the one that makes them dim out when you close the door. Maybe this is bad.

Thats funny... My dash would show the open door symbol when my passenger door was open but the dome would not work... I pulled the passenger door switch and cleaned it up and everything works fine now...

My Google Map

I'd suspect the door switches..and easy to change and find out. I have my dome lights turn on sometimes after going over a bump, but the dash light and chime do not come on..wiggling the door switch fixes it!
