10w30 for me. Its what toyota engineers recommend based on machining tolerances.

Newer cars roll 5w30 and 5w20 but I dont think Id run a 0 weight in my car. Id prolly chew through the oil too soon.

availability. from everything ive read from all the experts on oil, it seems like 0w30 would be better.. its not a common weight. everyone makes a 5w30 though. i probably wouldnt think twice about using 0w30.

ive never seen it in a non synthetic, i mean. its all over the place in mobile1 and castrol. on the other hand, every single brand makes a 5w30, its the most common weight these days. not a whole lot of reason to run synthetic on a low rev na.

^ And the answer is.... Winter. Yup it does not mean weight! The lower the number the lower the temperature this oil can be operated at. In the past I used to run 10W30 (depending on vehicle) during the summer and would switch to 5W30 around fall time. I just run Mobil 1 full syn 5w30 now. I've never seen 0W up here and it gets cold as hell.

Anyway.... What's my prize for answering the trivia question?

I let my cars warm up the full 10 seconds in the summer, close to a minute in the winter. Letting it sit and warm up is a waste of gas & it takes longer than if it was moving.

Big deal... winter in South Carolina... That's has to be joke. LOL I let my car warm-up for like 4-6 months during winter. I save on insurance and gas. It's already been down to 35 degrees here. You'll understand warming it up when it gets that cold or lower. It physically doesnt want you to drive it and you can hear it talk'n. For real!
