Are these parts salvageable?
I needed to replace my strut mounts, and so I removed the struts and they are so badly rusted I need to replace the whole strut. The bearing in the mounts had literally disintegrated. When I say disintegrated I mean, I was able to work the mounts off the struts with my hands.
Any ways... I want to see if I can save the "top cup" as I have heard it referred to. Is this the right term? I haven't seen anything like it when I was looking for strut mounts so it seems like they might be hard to find. Here are the pics that I took of mine and I am hoping to resurrect them. Note, tools at my disposal besides the usual garage stuff: sand blaster and welder. Passenger side: ![]() ![]() Driver side: (notice the cup is rusted to the strut rod) ![]() ![]() Thanks. |

They look pretty bad. I would replace them.

If they aren't salvageable, what are they called and does anyone know where I might get replacements?
Thanks. |
