in the past ive had some overheating issues while toodling round town in traffic but a simple 5 min break n she went back to normal, last problem i had was about a month ago
last nite i was making a 70mile trip at motorway speeds and got to within 3 miles of my house (luckly enough) and she over heated again,so ive just taken her for a lil dtrive round the block and she over heated straight away again, just wonderin if anyone could offer any advice before i pack her off to a garage tomorow

I, along with alot of others on here, have had the same problem, Could be air in the coolant system, bad thermostat, ect, ect. I would try replacing the thermostat, rad cap, drain the coolant, replace coolant (most here will recommend toyota red) Maybe take a look at the radiator and see if she has any fins missing, or just needs to be replaced. I replaced all of the above and still had the problem. It wasnt until I removed the cat and replaced the header that my problem went away. Although my exhaust manifold was getting bright red when it overheated so I kinda knew it was that in the beginning.

check this how to...

is this a turbo? i had a turbo that had a overheating problem that took me forever to chase down. it turned out it has an improperly tightened head. would overheat after applying some serious boost and then be fine. if you hit some maddd boost in your little 3 min run you might consider this.
