oh gawd! think i just blew my 5s.
well yesterday i was driving down the interstate and i started to hear ticking. it got louder, and louder and louder. i pulled over as quick as i could. my dipstick is broken so i couldnt check my oil. but it doenst leak and doesnt smoke. i put two quarts of oil in it on the way home, and as long as i stayed under 2000rpm it didnt tick. i have more oil as i was planning on doing a tune up to it today, ( oil was changed about 2000 miles ago). I dropped my oil just now and it DIDNT look like chocolate milk whatsoever. so my heads fine i guess. think its a rod??
any replies would be great. thanks. josh. |

i got one. and when i was going to do the tune up i was going to pull out all the old one. ( just the handle comes when i pull the old one off) and i was going to put in the new one. last time i changed the oil i replaced it with the required amount of oil. ( not constantly adding cus i think its low or anything) so ugh. time for a new motor?

your rod bearings died. you can replace them for about 50 bucks and a few hours of your time and be out and rolling the same day.
drop the pan, if nothing is blue or scratched, you can replace the bearings with the motor in the car. i still have a broken dipstick in my oilpan i bought a new one and stuffed it in there. its big, not going anywhere
