Thanks mrturrai, one last thing.
When you say this:
"In the end to get a similar profile to the 294 you end up paying almost as much as the Webcams and they are harder to install."
Are you talking about getting a hardweld from webcams or new ones from them? I think all they offer is hardweld for the 5FSE. I don't understand enough about regrinding cams to figure all this stuff out. But I do remember someone else saying that a hardweld would not help any.

Thanks again,
Jerry

Yeah they don't sell a new cam for the 5sfe...no one does. Webcams welds new material on though so you can use Toyota shims for any of their profiles. If you send in the cams that are currently in your car you can probably reuse many of the shims you already have.

cat-back exhaust system

If doing a Mild build, what is the best cat back exhaust system and where can buy it? I like the ones that give you low and mid range power at this level. I could not fine any.

Check out the sponsor links, there are like 2 different exhaust that i can remember, both are pretty popular.I don't think they are catback. I believe they replace the cat, and they also make headers that fit the exhaust systems, getting rid of both cats. which is illegal for street use. There are others im sure, you could go with a straight thru design as well, you may need custom pipes made tho.

The headers and B-Pipe are the most restrictive parts on the car. If you don't care about smog look into doing a 3rd gen 3S-GE swap (Wiki the motor for stats). You can get them pretty cheap from Chico Raceworks. You could even stroke it to 2.2 with less money then Cams and other parts will cost you. Referring back to the exhaust...you can always have a Magnaflow High Flow Cat welded in place to keep emissions down. Down side of that is they cost ~$400 each.

I paid $80 for the hi-flow Magnaflow @ Kragen, for the rear cat. It was like twice the size of the stock one.

Yeah, I didn't even think about that, mine is for pre-OBD2.

Today I went to the 1/8th mile,
even though I even beat an MK3 MR2 (is that any good), I still want to pull away, instead of relying completley on the launch.....

DAMN YOU 93 ENGINE EXPENSIVE HARDWELDS!

^Just buy a 3rd Gen 3S-GE from ChicoRaceWorks. It's $1800 for the clip and you get all the parts you need for the swap. The motor makes 177 bhp and 141 ft-lbs of torque. You couldn't get that out of a 5s with $3000 invested. Plus you get a higher red line.

Being in Puerto Rico is what has always killed it for me.... shipping will probably be ridiculous....

By the way the differences between generations should be stickied....

I've been weighing my options... I think the most cost-efficient would be either boosting the 5S or finding a V6 from a dead Camry....... what do you think????

I love the sound and instant torque of a V6, but boost is also good....

I did the V6 and really liked it. If you go V6 keep it simple. Use the V6 with the NA trans (saves you over a thousand bucks). Boosting a 5s IMO and a lot of other peoples is just a lot more trouble than it's worth. I think you'd be happy with the V6. Just make sure you fix any leaks before it goes in the car.
