Hissing N/A??

Hey my 93 N/A just started to idle high and make a loud air sucking noise. It then will die in a hissing fit... At times while driving at around 25-40 mph it cuts out a little...It seems fine at high way speeds for now....Any one have any thoughts on this problime...I was hoping to get to fall before I had to do a swap...Well let me know what you think it could be.. Thanks

I have a similar problem. I think mine is the cold start injector or something clogged in the vacume lines. Its like the intake is sucking the entire time and idle is at 1500. I'd check the lines around the throttle body.

Yep... that sounds like it....It also really don't like to have a load on it at low rpm's..Like the A/C...It's random..It will go fine for 10-20 mi. then act up for a few min. Then it's "fine" again...

o2 sensor. cold and WOT bypass the ecu from reading the o2 sensor, so it'll run normal under those conditions. high load and low rpms will cause the biggest stumble.

www.oxygensensors.com

i very strongly suggest a denso sensor. you can do a volt meter test to verify that its bad, but that sounds like a by the book bad o2 sensor.. but then again internet diagnosis is never 100%

will it not have issues if more air is coming in and the tps sees closed throttle?

no, the 5sfe isnt that smart the 91's dont even have tps's.. just a wot switch.

air leaks past the head flange will just give you a high idle.. its similar to holding the throttle valve open all the time.
