I had an aftermarket that did something similar to that... I took it to a factory authorized repair shop and they bypassed the code and removed the need for one for about 50.00... I have never seen a factory stereo in an MR2 but I am assuming it is a name brand since they felt it necessary to password protect it...
If it is not a name brand and is just some factory thing, I would just call the dealership... If it is a name brand such as bose, pioneer etc, I would call their 800# and find out where an authorized dealer is... Hope this helps... |

After 9 failed attempts to enter the code, it displays "help" and locks out any other attempts. Yeah, the dealer would be the one to get the code - but the car is so old that most records of radio codes faded away.... If you really want to keep the factory unit you can 1) get another one on Ebay 2) get the model number and serial number (need to take the dash out) and try to call call Fujitsu Ten (I believe they made the CD players for Toyota at the time) for the code
Or if you want to go aftermarket (which I recommend) good CD players run under $100. If I had to pick a brand, I would say Pioneer |

WOW I didn't know there was anyone else who owns an mr2 but loves rx7's at the same time. props
p.s. put a lsd in the 2nd gen and it'll be a GREAT drifter...one level the mr2 can't live up to because of it's mid engind, rwd layout. not saying it can't drift but it's certainly not a DRIFTER |
