'93 cams
So after reading up on some ways to give the 5SFE a power boost I decided to do cams first. I have a '93. Webcams are very expensive but I've read that you can get regrinds done. I'm unfamiliar with that so can someone explain to me what that really entails and if I have to shim them to install them afterwards?

Getting a set of Webcams will require:
- Removing your current cams or buying a used set - Pressing off the scissor gears - Shipping them to Webcams, packaged so they can't bang together or be damaged - Waiting a couple of weeks for them to be welded, ground and shipped back - Pressing the scissor gears back on the cams - Installing the cams and checking clearances - Ordering needed shims from Toyota and waiting for them to arrive - Installing the shims and putting everything back together Webcams recommends you run tighter clearances then the stock cams so even if you use the cams now in your car you will need at least a few shims. You can also find better prices from Webcam distributors then if you go directly through Webcams. One that I have used is Import Performance Parts - Import Performance Engine & Racing Parts and it will save you a bunch. |
