Another High Idle Thread! (specific)
Hey as some of you may know I've been trying to get my girlfriends 5sfe back in tip top shape. She had just put a fresh used longblock in and im trying to work out some of the kinks with it.
Notes: Stock 5sfe, fresh long block, No CEL. The car starts cold, and will idle around 1000 rpm. After you drive it and its up at normal temps, it will idle around 1200 or so. I'm assuming these cars IACV should have the car idling around 2k or so then dropping down after the car warms up. I know I should scan the BGB and trouble shoot this myself, BUT i figured id get some knowledge from the experts that deal with these cars on a daily basis. This is what i've found so far about the issue, if i unplug the circled hose that goes down to this part that pushes the idle out, it will idle around 2000rpm. After the car runs for a few minutes ill plug the hose back in and that peice that pushes the throttle body plate gets SUCKED right in, which doesnt look right. The peice that pushes the throttle plate i cirlced YELLOW, and the hose i unplug is circled in BLUE. Also.. What is the thing circled in RED for? I notice it goes to the IACV but whats the adjustment screw for? ![]() |

red thing is the ac idle up valve.. makes the car idle higher when you hit the ac button..
the thing on the left keeps the throttle valve open when the car is shut off. its supposed to suck in. the spring on the tb is unnecessary, as the tb has a built in spring (which you can see in the picture).

Thanks for the info Toms. The spring is on there because the throttle plate is more than likely gunked up with deposits. I'm going to be pulling it apart today and cleaning it. Hopefully it solves the issue and the plate will snap back by itself.
