get the inserts, it doesn't let your motor torque back in fourth under acceleration and engine breaking.

Inserts are cool...a little harsh though IMO. Depends on what yer lookin for.

Maybe some shifter cable bushings? Brass ones FTMFW!

so mr2's are supposed to drive like rattly shitboxes? that doesnt make sense.

spend the money making your car run right. nothing is worse than modding a broken ass car that runs bad.

get mad the internet is serious business.

Rattly shitbox? to each their own. I dont like worn out motor mounts or bushings, but thats just my .02

If you cant deal with a little vibration you probably shouldnt be driving a sports car IMO. But my opinion is biased, I grew up driving oldschool porsches and Spec Rabbits. But in my experience, cars tend to be more of the rattly shitbox variety when they are worn out...

If your car isnt running right definitely get that sorted first. But i will say replacing worn out bushings/motor mounts is one of the best cheap mods you can do to your car.

After installing polyurethane bushings in my civic, and motor mount inserts, i noticed a slight vibration at idle, but the throttle response was far better from the engine not torqing around in the cradle, the car felt alot tighter, less body roll from the swaybar bushings, and the steering felt overall more precise. Just my .02

from kirk on mr2oc.

inserts do nothing but make your car shake, make your interior panels rattle loose, and generally make the car feel like a cheap piece of junk.. if your mounts are worn out, new oem mounts are 75 bucks, and worth it.

i did the test fitting for the very first set of kirk mounts for NA's. its a quality product, and kirk is a great guy.. but it just doesnt make sense for a street car. whole boatload of downsides for really no gain at all.

i make a living working on nice cars. the fact is, your car doesnt have to drive, feel, and sound like junk to perform at its best. hop in an M3 , ISF, 996, etc thats laying out 400+hp and you wont hear any of those cars shaking apart.. yet they'll lay down all their power just fine. makes you wonder why you're stuffing in mounts that make your car rattle.

I'll be installing my motor mount inserts this afternoon. Perhaps they should package them with a spoon and a waterhose to get the sand out of the users giner' because it makes the car vibrate a little at idle? Theres that whole breaking in thing as well.

As far as getting into a new M3, ISF, or 996....
Yeah, all of which are brand new sports cars my friend. Of course they arent going to rattle. The ISF is junk BTW

I was a Detailer at a high end GM dealer, as well as a local porsche, BMW, Audi dealer, and I have driven(reamed on) all of those cars you listed. while fun, you are comparing apples to oranges.

Im sorry, but any "sports car" that has a button you press to put it into sports mode is a watered down sissy half assed version of it's predecessor (e30 vs e36 m3 is a prime example, or air cooled 911 turbo vs new 911 turbo). Most options like that are for mid life crisis having rich old men who want all the **** without the mess. People buy those cars to look cool on their commute. With the odd exception of the people who buy those cars and drive them like they were meant to be driven; 99% of the time those cars see WOT is to cut you off in the fast lane because they had to be infront of you.The age of a true sports car is dead. The people who have money are the people manufacturers cater to nowadays. The closest thing we have on the market now is the current generation z06, and it's only fun when the TCS is turned OFF.

Pardon my rant lol.

Great discussion though. We should make a seperate thread. I definitely see the point you are making however. Perhaps we should agree to disagree.

But it's just one of those buttons that gets left on ALL THE TIME, so they might as well take it out and make it more aggressive all the time

EDIT: Actually they should never have made it with an a/t F*** people who can't drive standard

That's everything though, like shifter linkages, tranny, axles, master cylander, and pedals, oh and wiring harness and ecu. So i think it may be a fair price, but i'll tell him he's busting my balls and he should give me a better deal
