Quick 5S-FTE Questions

I just have a couple quick questions and I'm tired of searching.

My O2 sensor for my 5S is toast. Now, if I'm doing a 5S-FTE and using an aftermarket 3S downpipe, do I need to purchase an O2 sensor for a 5S, or for a 3S? Or do I not need one at all?

Also, because of the downpipe that I'm using I need to relocate the oil cooler. What is the correct name for the oil filter union/sandwich plate so I can purchase it. I asked some people and they said they were using it off a 5S powered Camry, but I was at the auto parts store forever and the guy didn't know what the hell he was looking for.

Thanks!

I would imagine the sensor would depend on which ecu you are using..

You will use the 5s o2 sensor. you will need to extend the wire to reach the turbo down pipe. DO NOT cut the wire coming from the sensor. Instead, follow that to the engine wiring harness and extend it there. The wire coming off the sensor is shielded.

And is this what you are wanting for the oil filter?Oil Gauge Install Adaptor Plate "Sandwich Adaptor"
I have always heard of them being called oil filter sandwich plates, or oil gauge adaptor plate.

Thanks! Kinda sucks. I was hoping I would be able to buy that adapter plate off in a parts store. Now I gotta wait for another order to come in the mail.

Dont go off that link for your 2. I dont know if that is the right size or not. It is just the first on I found.

And yeah, waiting for parts in the mail sucks. I had to have all my 5sfte parts shipped. makes things take longer that is for sure. Good luck!

One more question. Is anyone out there running a sandwich plate on their 5S to relocate the oil cooler? I can't seem to find one for a 5S-FE, only 3S-GTEs. I can't use a 3S sandwich plate on a 5S can I? I really need to know. This is the last part I need to finish up this 5S-FTE project.

I tried searching, and I've been PM'ing random 5S-FTE members with no real results, so can someone please let me know. Thanks!

Are you hitting the oil cooler or filter with the DP? Are you using the stock exhaust manifold or aftermarket? Stock DP or aftermarket?

I'm using the OEM 3S exhaust manifold and CT-26 with an eGay downpipe that runs into the oil cooler.

That sux. There isnt much room right there. That is the only thing I can think to do; relocate the oil cooler/filter. Good luck and let us know what you come up with. I will post a pic of my DP situation this evening in my other thread.

Alright, last question!

Haha... I think! Does anyone know of an oil filter that's smaller than the stock 5S filter that still screws in?

Alright, I should be finishing this up this weekend, but I have just a couple more questions so I can button this thing up.

For the MSD BTM, what do I put on the pin to the left? Also, what is the start point and what should I set it to? I also have a dial that's hooked up to the unit as well.

I used the whored out diagram that's been posted dozens of times before to hook the unit up, it was a huge help btw. So props to whoever made it.

Thanks!

Haha yeah. I figured out the piping somehow. I did it very similar to yours, I just used one of those 90 degree couplers to attach to the intake manifold. Oh, and my engine bay is extremely dirty!

I'll post pictures when I finish with it this weekend if all goes well.

Thanks!
The nipple on the left needs a vaccum hose. I used one of the spare ports on the manifold. I have been trying to get someone to verify the start point and dial selection. As of now I have mine set a 0 start point and 1 degree on the dial.

Could someone that has run this setup PLEASE verify this. I think it only needs 1/2 a degree but I want to be safe until am sure.

Where did you mount the box, dial, and tach addaptor?

I also used that diagram. Thanks from me also.

You would think this would be better documented. Everywhere I have searched and everyone I have asked I could never get a concrete answer.

As far as where I mounted the box, dial and tach I have them mounted against the firewall in the trunk. Well, technically they're not mounted yet just laying in the trunk, but that's where I will mount them.

I mounted mine like this:

And had it set to 0 start point and 1/3 degree retard per pound of boost. I was on a rev2 though so those of you doing this on a rev1 may want to set it higher and listen for knock as you bring it down.
