weren't you running with your tps disconnected a while back? Did you ever solve that issue?

you dont need bigger injectors unless you are runnin some serious mods and as for gettin some injectors you could hit these guys up they were really cool when I was tryin to track down info on the injectors that came with my jdm 5sfe that i ended up keeping and using over my USDM ones. Also like they said before you wanna make sure your base timing is spot on if not fix that.

if it has fuel and spark going to that cyl its time to check for compression....
you can try listening to the injector with a car stethescope as well, though there are poor-man methods to get the same thing its hard to explain, easier to show... |

lol thanks for the advice.
haha muffin man you ain't kidding lol. i feel like its going to blow any minute now. so anyways. i resolved the issue with the tps but still idles at 1.5k with no a/c 1.1 with a/c i checked the gap on the spark plugs and they were set to .50 i re-gapped them and now it seems to back fire allot less. i couldn't find a way to feel the injectors because my engine is so loud from idling so high. like i said. all spark plugs are black from running rich but the one in cylinder 2 is all ashy. i noticed there is allot of air coming out of the PVC hose coming from the valve cover is that bad? i checked my oil catch can and there is no oil in it. um... base timing is perfect. i had it on 14 and brought it down to 10degrees before top dead center. any other idea of what to check on that cylinder? |

yeah do a compression test. if u have decent compression. like 120 and above it shouldn't run to badly. but u want 140 to 160 to be ideal.
if u have 130 compression, and ur getting spark. then the only thing killing that cylinder is fuel. might want to look into getting a set of used injectors. since 5S engines are common u can find them easy. |

my mkI was purchased only running on three cylinders my number 2 is also the problem. but the po had to show off to a honda and decided to use nos off the line and ended up burning one of the valves or so we think. that might not help you any but as for your injector try taking the wires off of it and using a 9-volt battery with leads to it and listen for it to click it worked for my porsche 914 anyway. good luck

anyways.. so guys i noticed that since i re-gapped the spark plugs the back fire was ended. lol guess it was a hell of alot of unburned fuel. i will do a compression test and see what happens. can i take the injectors from any 5s? i saw a cressida in the junk yard with a 7g engine. can i get the injectors from that since i want to go boost as soon as i get the engine settled again? |

I would expect 170+psi on a healthy 5SFE
my '91 street car is 185s across the board my '94 race car is 182-185-183-182, though it only has 13k miles total its been about 10k track miles ![]() |

ok guys. i fully warmed my engine (went on a drive to the store) came back and got to work. took the efi relay and fuse out. took the plugs out in order and checked compression. i cranked the engine 6 times like the manual says, and im happy to say my compression isnt bad.
cylinder 1- 175 psi cylinder 2- 180 psi cylinder 3- 185 psi cylinder 4- 180 psi i think this is great! am i wrong? does this mean that my problem is the injecter? what about the fuel pressure regulator? let me know guys! |
