running on 3 cylinders. took pictures. help me out plz
hey guys. so as some know my car has showed me better days.i feel like its running like crap so i decided to do a full tune up. i have about 2k on the ignition and decided to pull out the spark plugs and check whats going on. i started my turning on the car and pulling each wire off the plug one by one. they all misfire except for the number 2. i pulled spark plug and looks all white and ashy i pulled the rest and everything looks black and like its running rich as hell. anyone have any ideas to whats causing this? here are the pictures. cylinder 2: ![]() ![]() ![]() rest of cylinders look like this: its cylinder 4- ![]() ![]() ![]() |

it has a slight missfire normally but if i pull that number 2 wire out the wire sparks but the engine really dosent change at all like when i take off the other plugs

Do you have a timing light? One thing you can do is clip the timing light to each plug wire to determine if that plug is firing. If plug #2 is firing, but you still think that cylinder is not combusting, maybe there's a fuel injection problem. Could be something wrong with the #2 injector. I'm just speculating here. Also make sure your base timing is correct and check your cam timing too.

ok i'll do that. timing light gets base timing right?
then how do you check for cam timing. anywhere i can get cheap injecters? and how would i know my injecter isnt firing? |

They don't calibrate it, they usually give you a free calibration coin when you buy your tune up essentials. I recomend you find a calibration coin, Also check your dizzy/rotor/cap

the dizzy/rotor/cap are new. i checked to see if meybe oil was in there but its not.
um... so i should check then maybe the gap is way off. i'll do that. |

yeah, they are supposed to be gapped, its a good thing you can see the difference. Gives you a clue tot he mystery.

fuel injectors? well. i don't think you really can, but just add an additive of fuel injection cleaner.

Yes timing light can be used to check your base ignition timing. Cam timing can be verified by removing your upper timing belt cover, and check the marks on the cam gear vs. the TDC indicated byyour crank pulley. I have heard you can tell if an injector is firing by touching the top of it with the tip of a screwdriver, and seeing if you can feel it vibrate, or buzz. I haven't tried it so I'm not sure.

OK I'll be trying that tomorrow morning.
anyone know where i can get some good injectors? if i get bigger ones will i need to get a fuel pressure regulator? my OEM one wont hold it? |
