rpm stuck?

hey guys i have a friend with mk2 n/a and his rpm stays on 0. anyone know what i can look for to fix this or can it be the dash?

I'd guess wiring. Check the distributor pickup/coil wiring before pulling the cluster.

no no. I'm usually not embarrassed about what happens to the car since i accept its old age.

really have a friend. just notice he drives around with his rpm not working.
