Gas pedal help.
So my '91 N/A just went though a major tune up the basics and such.
But ever since I got it, I've noticed that the gas pedal pressure is really hard. Best way I can describe it is, if any of you had an upgraded clutch the clutch pedal gets really hard when you press it down. To a point you're getting a work out when you drive. That's how my gas pedal is. It's easy enough to drive when you get used to it, but would rather have a regular old gas pedal with little pressure. So anyone know what I can do to fix this? Throttle cable maybe? Any help would be much appreciated. |

Just start out with the basics and go over where all the cables run and see if anything is wrong. Start witht the cruise control area and then to the throttle body. It might just need some minor adjusting

throw some 3-in-1 oil at all the junctions/pivots you can get to. If that doesn't solve it it may be the throttle body sticking

I think its the cable too. Check the Throttle body area first then the cruise control cables.

I had the same prob with my 92 n/a. It was the cable that runs from the throttle body to the cc box. The cylinder at the end of the cable was rusted to the cc box pulley. I just replace that cable from spare parts I had laying around. Check the small cables first before u start pulling the main throttle cable out. Hope this helps.

I tested my cables by having a friend hold the throttle body open at WOT while I tried the foot pedal, and there was almost no resistance, so I think my resistance is in the throttle body. You may have a similar thing going on.

Just ordered all new throttle cables from Aaron at Lithia Toyota.
Will just replace them all once they come in. Thanks all. |
