Is this MR2 Worth the Price?
I'm looking at purchasing a 1993 MR2 for around $3,000. It has a TRD wide-body kit, aftermarket wheels, and a few other mods done to it. It is also an NA. It has 130,000 miles and the problem with it is, it has door popers because the door handles are shaved. Well one of the door popers short circuited and caused a small fire behind the gauge cluster which was immediatly put out with a fire extenguisher. The car hasn't been started in 4 months because the guy was never able to get ahold of a new wiring harness. I figure that I could just re-splice the wires that needed fixing and it also needs a new gauge cluster but everything else is in great condition. Hasn't been in any wrecks and is in great condition other than that and has a new clutch. Do you think that it is worth it?

Can you get some pictures of it? How about some specs on the wheels. I would like to see just how well the WB Kit was put together. As is sounds like a decent deal depending on the damage from the fire, but it would really help to see some pictures.

The Wheels are 5Zigen FN01RCs and the body kit looks perfect. It is molded into the body, the gas tank flap has been shaved and moved to the back, the door handles have been shaved and the car looks perfect. It has a carbon fiber hood, the flush headlight conversion, JDM tailights, and A brand new dual exhaust. I'll try to get some pictures, but the fire damage isn't extensive at all. Like I said, it almost looks like I could re-do the wiring where it melted, but it is going to be a pain in the ass.

I wouldn't buy it, but I couldn't say for sure without looking at it extensively.

normally yes, that would be a good deal to get. The door popper thing wouldnt appeal to me as its already had problems with them. If you can take some pictures of the damage, and of the body......especially on the seems and post them here, that would help out a lot.

I think its worth the price but only if you are prepared and have the funds to put more money into it.

Here is the car with the dash off. It likes messy, but that is from the fire extenguisher spray and it doesn't look like that anymore(it is cleaned up). The dash and rest of the interior are fine, only the gauge cluster got a little melted. Let me know what you think and I'll try to post a picture of the exterior

Need more pictures. Take as many pictures you can of the whole car, full picture as well as lots of close ups, higher res the better.
If you think you can fix the fire damage then go for it. Three thousand for a 93 is a great deal, no doubts there. What is your location? |

after seeing the pics, i personally wouldnt buy it cuz i wouldnt know where to start with the interior mess. not saying its still not worth it but not worth the hassle to me. alot depends on your budget and how deep your pockets are.

Interior just looks messy because it's ripped apart, not a big deal IMO. I asked about your location because that has a lot to do with the worth of the car.
A 91 NA in your area in good running condition is worth 4-5K IMO. So a 93 is probably worth 7K. So, for a 93 with a WBK and wheels, if the kit is done properly, and I mean ONLY if it is done right. And if you can fix the wiring problem and restore the interior for little cost... then yes 3K is a great deal. |

You ARE taking a risk though. If you can't get it rewired right and put the dash in and everything the way it should you will be stuck with a basket case. Then again at that price you shuold not have a hard time selling it if that happens.

P.S. I would like to see more pictures. Get some of the WHOLE car, front shots, side shots, lots of shots.
