If it is only at start up it is probably valve seals going out. The seals get old and dry out then let oil seep past. then the motor burns it off upon startup. this is a very small amount and wouldnt be noticable on the dip stick for a while.

Valve stem seals, spark plug tube seals, and blowby are all possibilities.

its the valve stem seals. classic smoke on start up. 5sfes had faulty seals installed at the factory.

If you let it go for a long time it can foul spark plugs and potentially damage your cat converters.

It all depends on the place. If you are selling it, I wouldn't worry to much about fixing it.

first port of call would be a $10 bottle of engine stop smoke this rejuvinates rubber seals and should stop the valve stem seals smoking if they arent that bad

main cost relates to labor seals shouldnt be more that $20 for the set beut cams and valves have to come out
easiest if the heads off but not necesary
(p.s. do one cylinder at a time and put it at tdc you dont want to lose a valve down the bore lol)

the seals are faulty.. toyota used the wrong material in the seals, nothing will help except replacement!

i wouldnt fix it.. if you happen to have the head off for something else, fix it then. besides that, its about 500-800 bucks in labor

"nothing will help except replacement"
stop smoke is still worth a go it is specifically designed to fix valave stem seals
even if its not likely to work i would say $10 is a risk you should take when it could save you $800
and also even if it doesnt fix the stem seals it also helps the rocker gasket crank and cam seals etc
