Just wanted to know if anyone had done or has done a clutch slave replacement how to? It looks like it is mounted to the engine mount. If anyone has any pointers etc. it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to find a link but couldn't so if i missed it please post thanks.

its not on the mount.
its bolted to the tranny itself. the best way i seemed to get to it was to take that back mount off to get more space. take the lines off and then the bolts. its not comfortable at all by the way! |

Yeah i was trying to figure out how to do it and no way seemed to be good, the way the BGB refers to the rubber part that moves is the clutch release cylinder body i got that to move some how by building pressure up in the system, I can't seem to find where the leak is coming from, no fluid from the master. If the master was leaking it would fill up the frunk of the car right? If the slave was leaking i could see it coming down the tranny right? This leads me to think it might be the rubber connecting hose? Any ideas tests or whatnot?

Carpet is nice and dry so that is a good thing. Check on master being good.

Not sure on the mk2 but on the mk1, it's 10x easier to take off the exhaust manifold. There should be 2 bolts holding it to the transmission and the lines that go into it. Take the old one off then put the new one in and bleed the lines.

Any test to tell if and how the old slave is bad? Have you ever had issues with the rubber hose that connects the master and slave?

If the slave is leaking, there should be a puddle underneath the car. Check for a leak when you move your car. I replaced the master cyl on my 87 because it leaked all over the carpet and ruined it. I cant get the brake fluid out of my carpet. On my 88 I replaced the slave cyl just because it was so old and was beat up. The one on my 87 looked good when I had it off so I just put it back on.

see this is the problem im running into that i don't see any leaking fluid either leaking from the master onto the carpet or into the frunk or fluid leaking from the slave onto and part of the car or onto the floor hmmm my wife was able to build up enough pressure by pumping repeatedly to move the clutch slave, have you ever experienced anything with the cable? how does the cable work i cant seem to find a diagram of it eihter
