speedo
Now my speedometer, odometer, and power steering all just stopped working at the same time. And my O/D off light started flashing but my overdrive still works(yeah it's an auto). Wtf, I checked all the fuses seem to be good, any ideas?

Could someone please post a picture or direct me to a diagram? Also it would be on the transmission right?, as it's a '92 but the engine is a '91 and I get very different results looking for parts.

well my rpm gauge doesnt work for me. my dad told me i need to replace the distributor cap. another person on the forums told me to check out the igniter out since all the gauges are powered by it. sounds like there might be something wrong with your igniter since all of them stopped working. dont forget to check the connections in the back of your gauge cluster to see if the wiring is ok, same goes for the igniter connections
heres the link to the thread i made. it might have some useful info in there and a diagram. What is needed to get my RPM Gauge working?? |

bump. Any advice on whether I should take it somewhere for a diagnoses or just order the part?

Really? No one on the MR2 board knows anything about the speed sensor on an MR2? I apologies if I'm being a nuisance.

what year is it?
if its like mine. it runs off a speed cable on the bottom on the car and most likely it broke. I've had to replace mine like 3 times ever since Ive owned the car. the MPH gauge wont work and the PS wont know ur moving so will shut down. you have to check 1st which one it is. there are 2 of them. one that runs from the dash to middle of car and one from middle to transmission. you can find them really cheap at rockauto.com the front one is part number pn Y882 and the rear one (most common to break) is Y849. hope i could help man. |

Which one usually breaks? And is it easy enough to fix myself?

The one that usually always breaks is Y849 (rock auto part number)
this cable is the one that hooks up to the front cable around the driver side wheel and hooks to the transmission. |
