Transmission 1993

So, my 5th gear failed on me. Took it to the shop, they can't rebuild it and said I have to get a new transmission. What or where do I go about to find one?

1993 NA 5SFE

FYI, I'm going to turbo this car.

Are you going to turbo the 5s or get a 3s motor? You can get a turbo transmission (E153) off a JDM 3s-gte clip which will save you a lot of money or wait and see if you can find one in the f/s section. For piece of mind and with a warranty, I would suggest you contact Josh Boam at Chico Race Works. He is a board vendor and can get you pretty much anything you need. His email address is the_mister3@yahoo.com.

Used s54's are usually around for $200 in decent condition. There was one for sale on Craigslist up here in Atlanta. You can also convert Celica s53's and Camry s59's, though the gearing is different.

If you're planning a swap of some kind, now is probably the time to do it rather than spending money on another transmission, especially if you're going to do a 3sgte which uses an e153.

I'm keeping the motor that I have. no swaps. I have rebuilt the engine ready to turbo.

I believe Josh has some S54 transmissions. They are also up for sale quite often and easily sourced.
