hey, in the BGB it states that i need "SPECIAL TOYOTA" tools in order to perform a timing belt change in my 5SFE, I think it's supposed to hold the cam or something like that...do i really need these "SPECIAL" tools or will i get by using other common tools?
anybody here have any tips or any advice on things i might have to look out for? sometimes it seems like the job is going to be easy but then the Toyota laid out some kind of booby trap that will waste hours of your time...anybody have any fool-proof walkthrus? i am getting ready to do my timing belt change...can anybody tell me what else i will need? this is what i have so far... 1. OEM Timing Belt 2. OEM Water Pump 3. OEM Thermostat + Gasket |

special tools
you don't need any special tools, just make sure you have the alignment marks lined up with the crankshaft and the cam gear, the cam gear should stay in place long enough to get the timing belt on.

replace the oil pump and front crank seal while you're down there.
