So i got my car back. i had my egr values change and my tps sensor changed. its running fine on street like decent. but what esle can make my car run sluggish. spark plugs and other things have been changed. i dotn think its the distrubitor cuase it starts up fine. or the cap. car wont keep up to speed for a dang automatic.

when i took it on the the high way today. took me forever to get to 65 and i didnt reach to 100. want to see if i could get it up at speed like before but it wont push it. my mechanic guy saw my transmission and he siad it could of been blown but it wasnt. so he put fabrication to the auto transmmisson. do u think its possibly my transmission about to go bad?

Mine was doing this. Took for ever to accelerate. I think it was 0-30mph in about 10 or more seconds. After a bit of driving, it would go back to feeling a bit better. Turned out to be low compression in one cylinder. Check your spark plugs and look for carbon build up.

I'm not sure, but you should give the spark plugs some time, then check them for buildup.

White smoke would be a HG issue. go get a compression test or buy one and test it. I'm off sometime this week, pay for gas and I'll bring mine if our schedule matches up. |

no i didn't have a problem with my overdrive. but with the bad ect it will take forever for the car to shift into overdrive when it is cold or not up to normal operating temp. when it was cold it would run up to like 70 or 80 mph before it would shift. you can get an o2 sensor from twosrus.com and you can prob get an ect sensor from any parts store or an oem one. i believe the o2 is around $50 and the ect is around $30 to $40. but check them though before going and buying new stuff. when my o2 sensor was bad, my car resisted a lot during acceleration. it felt weak and powerless.

my guess it going to be the vaccum lines. take them off one at a time and blow on them make sure there it is free flowing and not cloged.
Look at the diagram on the engine lid those are the culprits. maybe the ones that go to the intake manifold. |

i found the problem. i had a bad cat which was really wierd. and it was clogged for some reason. so now it runs like a million bucks and now i just gotta get a new cat. its funny how one small thing can make it as a big problem. but wit the new egr values and tps sensor it runs fine but its loud very loud wit no cat

I wouldn't run your car with no cat for any length of time. In VA, I know people who have gotten arrested for running no cat.

you are running the car without the cat installed? if you need to, you can smash out the catalyst with a suitable tool such as a sledge hammer or crow bar, just to get you back on the road without having an open exhaust. I've had to do this before on both a camry and an MR2..

Gutting your cat is the same thing as running an open exhaust. It sounds almost exactly the same.
Right now I'm running just headers and cat. I took off the rest of my exhaust, in preparation for an aftermarket exhaust. The cat actually keeps it pretty quiet, and I'm still (mostly) legal for the county I live in. |
