Car Leaking Fluid. Please Help!

I drive a 1991 mr2 na and have noticed that it is leaking some fluids right under the engine. I know its not antifreeze or oil. It is clear and viscous and a tad bit yellow. I dont know anything about cars and i just got my clutch replaced and was wondering if it is clutch fluid/transmission fluid? Any help to what it is would be appreciated! Thanks!

Well, if it's not oil or coolant, that pretty much leaves brake fluid, tranny fluid, and clutch fluid.

seeing as how you just got your clutch changed, and you're now noticing a leak, I'd call that suspect... Brake fluid will generally be a bit darker, but still yellow. Never done a clutch, so I don't know what it's fluid looks like, but generally tranny fluid is much darker, closer to an oil color, from what I've seen.

In order to get to the clutch there are many components that need to be removed or moved out of the way. Are you sure that there wasn't an oil change as well? Coolant by Toyota is a red/brown color otherwise, it would be sort of green and have a pretty sharp smell to it. The brake fluid is also a brownish tint. Fresh 5W30 or 10W30 synthetic or not is yellow. Look under the car with a flashlight and see if you can see where it is coming from. I would bet that is is motor oil. Most transmission oil is red/brown. Call that mechanic back and ask what exactly was done.

Sounds like clutch fluid (which is brake fluid) or gear oil. Is it thick or thin fluid (ie - is it watery or oily?). My guess would be clutch fluid

If it was his gas, I'd be REALLY worried.

Ya. Im going to call the mechanic back. From what you guys said it does sound like clutch fluid. Hope its nothing too serious. Im pretty good friends with the mechanic and i know that he only replaced the clutch and flywheel so maybe he forgot to tighten somthing up and its leaking a little?
