Seafoam and maintenance

So No Seafoam in the oil right?
anyone have a shot of the EXACT hose that I am supposed to use to feed the seafoam into the intake?

also, this may be an odd question, but can you buy an OEM Oil filter?
because the engine itself is branded toyota... looks like the oil filter they put on the car when it was new.... and I can only think someone would be dumb enough to never change the oil filter in 18 years of the cars life..

if thats the case this oil change is going to give my car much better life..

ALSO when using an engine oil treatment fluid to plug a small oil leak, should I add it to the old oil, run it a bit, then change it? or put it in the new oil?

My Google Map

You can buy an OEM filter and oil leak treatments aren't recommended. What they do is gum up small spaces, not actually a good thing in your engine. If possible, try to locate the source of the leak and replace that part, probably a gasket.

if you remove the end of that hose that connects to the valve cover and feel vac while the engine is idling and rev'd up then it should work, there is also the PCV hose that connects on top of the valve cover, but you would have to disconnect it from the PCV valve which sits in the valve cover through a rubber grommet. If you do run seafoam though your engine you will be dumping all sorts of carbon and other crap out the exhaust manifold into your $470 cat just after the manifold. I wouldn't recommend doing this, it is possible you could damage the cat or plug it up.

edit: also find where the leak is coming from and replace whatever gasket/seal is causing it. You may have to clean your engine to be able to identify where the leak is coming from.

what? seafoaming the intake manifold isnt good for the cat? but everyone recommends using seafoam on the intake...
or did you mean to not seafoam the oil?

and about the leak, its a very small leak, nothing much to be bothered with, the car still hold oil, it was just a small annoyance, something this no leak stuff should fix, and if it doesnt I will have to wait awhile, because gasket work is a little to serious for my budget right now, I just need the car running really. later on I can rebuild the engine, or even swap out another one

putting seafoam in the intake, it will run through the intake, into the combustion chambers and out the exhaust along with all the other crap it removes. That is its intended operation, just letting you know that your cat is there at the end of the path and whatever is removed is gonna have to go through your cat.

individual gaskets/seals are cheap. If they are in a difficult spot to get to they can be really expensive to replace if you have a mechanic do it, but if you can do it yourself it really doesn't cost much. If it isn't a major leak then no biggie, it's up to you.

Using seafoam through the intake will be fine. If your that worried about the cat, buy a header for the car, enjoy the added power and lack of a cat. EMS has a nice one for around $150

Or just unbolt your cat while you seafoam your engine, then bolt it back on once you're through the process.
