EGR VSV Testing - Please help.
I have two EGR VSV’s. One has a broken outlet the other is used. Both of the solenoids function when a 12V source is applied. Neither of the solenoids are shorted to the case. Measuring the resistance of the solenoids, one is about 1K ohms the other is a little higher. The maintenance manual says the EGR and fuel pressure VSV solenoids’ resistance should be 33 - 39 ohms. I checked the fuel pressure VSV, it measures a little over 50 ohms. According to the book, all of these VSV’s should be replaced. However, I’m beginning to wonder if the book is wrong with regards to the EGR VSV.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Would anyone be willing to check the resistance of their EGR VSV for me? All you would need to do is disconnect the engine wire harness from the EGR VSV plug and check the resistance between the two contacts of the VSV. The EGR VSV is the one closer to the bottom of the engine. Thanks, Mike. |

I measured my EGR VSV since I've got the engine all apart, was 34 Ohms. The valves that are measuring over 1k sound like they are definitely defective. The one that is 50 Ohms sounds as if it is on the edge, why not just go to the local junkyard and pick some up?
