thanks man i finally got it in the garage and will do some major investigating.
one other note i may add is that my reverse lights do not even turn on when i pop it into reverse while the key is in the "on" position. could this mean anything? & im only mentioning that because as i stated above, on the final days of the car running, it would die the second the gear selector was put in reverse, even before i started to let go of the clutch pedal.. |

alright, i went ahead and took out the harness that runs from the kick panel to the fuse box in the engine bay, and to the taillights, how do i go about checking this?
Visually it looks fine edit: actually on the other hand, after a more through inspection, i found this under the electrical tape... and it was a little damp too. ![]() ![]() still have some investigating to do, but i hope this is it. Last edited by lo2; 11-10-2009 at 10:19 PM.. |

Ok, that definitly is not a good sign....
Why Reverse would shut down the car is beyond me without being there to look at the wiring and trace it. Looking at the backup light circuit, it really is in no way related except that it pulls power from the ECU-IG fuse. The only thing that I can think of is you were having a Voltage drop issue to begin with and activating the reverse lights cause a higher currect draw on the main power supply to the rear which is the Heavy black/red wire that is comming from the kick panel that is a single plug (IE2)... |

it runs! the black/red wire that runs to the single plug up front was was seperated at the part in the back where it branches off into two more wires.
i cleaned the whole harness up, redid the connections and installed it back in earlier today and everything seems to be back to normal. ...even the reverse lights somehow. Thanks for all the help CJMR2T. You da man. |

Glad to hear that you got it running and that I could help.
Looking at the pics of the wiring, there is a lot of green corosion which is a sign of water damage usually.. You might want to try to find out why our how its getting wet and fix that thus preventing it from happening again. As for the reverse lights working "somehow", yeah, now they can get power being that you've repaired the power supply to them and everything else that pulls power from that circuit.... Always remember, wiring issues are not as hard as most people think they are (although some circuits are harder then others).. As long as you have a basic understanding of how to use a volt meter and have a wiring diagram, you should be able to find and solve the problem. |

I have all similar issue with my 3sgte... but my thing is when I wiggle around wire harness in back of injectors, (under intake manifold). It actually starts up and I can here as if it makes a good connection
Does this harness have a relation with code 14 |
