cluster problem(s)

just got my 2nd deuce, it's a 93 n/a, white/blue t, prev. owner installed a silly gauge kit with stickers over top... tach is lazy (reads 1k to 2k ???), fuel gauge is too (reads 1/5 to ???) and i just don't trust the temp. unbelievably the speedo still works (it's at least close) and there is a prob with the lighting, i've seen the backlights come on once or twice when switching the headlights on for a few seconds. any suggestions? replace cluster? for now i just want to get the lights on, i'm a night driver coming home from work, mph and temp will be good enough for now unless someone knows where i can get a cluster on the cheap.

is there a FAQ related to replacing the entire cluster? i don't think the last guy who owned it cared to read any precautions.

i'd try finding threads @ mr2oc.com i think you'll probably have to replace the cluster though. to be on safe side, take the cluster out and inspect the lights and see if there are any burnt spots

no burnt spots, they all illuminate. i think there might be a short somewhere, it flickers for a second when switching on the headlights.
