Exhaust noise

my exhaust makes a ticking noise at certain times when i'm driving

how can you tell if it's an exhaust leak or my muffler is a POS?

I've tried searching for a leak, can't find anything

Sounds like an exhaust leak, possibly from around the manifold area.

I just fixed this very issue today on mine. I had a small crack at the flex pipe that was causing a noticeable ticking noise. It was noticeable at all speeds, except highway. I put headers on it today to fix it...cheaper than a stock manifold, and it DOES sound better!

pop your engine lid with the motor running stick your face down by the turbo and manifold and tap the throttle. Can you smell exhaust fumes?

Same goes for N/A, put your ear near the exhaust manifold and blip the throttle cable a few times. You should hear it better, and you'll smell it.

Headers are so easy. As long as you can lift your car up high enough to get to the bolts holding your exhaust onto your cat. Also, to get those bolts off, just use an impact gun. It'll save you so much time and you won't strip any bolts.

LOL until there rusted into the head and the bolts snap off in the head when you try removing them.

I was talking about removing the exhaust from the cat.

But I've stripped and snapped more bolts with a wrench or breaker bar than an impact gun. In fact, for exhaust systems, the only way I've been able to avoid stripping bolts is with an impact gun.
