how can I beat a G35??

Here is the story. My cousin wants to race me in his G35. He said he doesn't want to race me until he gets it running 14.0 with Manifold, exhaust, and intake. I just want to know what mods can I do to beat him. I beat a G35 when I first swaped in my gen 3 3sge from a roll like a bumper. Now I have K&N filter with greddy sp exhaust. I really don't want to get headers b/c their like 600 for those fugi. you 3sge guys outside the U.S. wanna help me on parts? I really dont wanna loose to him. well probably settle this @ the track along with a rsx-type s, and SI(not worried about SI). Oh, and the G35 will have new tires. dont know what kind. but I gotta be faster than 14's

G35 only does 14? I thought it was MUCH faster then that. You talking about 14 in the 1/4 mile right?

i thought they were faster too. jimmy, we should be mid 14's with the 3rd gen. i havent had a chance to take it to the track yet so im not positive but thats what everyone tells me. the first thing i would do it for race day, get rid of EVERYTHING easly removable for weight. passenger seat, spare tire, plastic liner in front, trunk carpet, ect. every little bit helps. the next option you have for easy quick power is a simple shot of nitrous. used kit will cost like 300 and you can run like a 45 shot and slaughter him. other than those 2 things, getting more power out of our n/a's is costly and time consuming (replacing cams, pistons, ect) good luck and let me know how this goes.

lol... I dont want to do anything that crazy. No NOS for me. I dont like it. I mean, should I even worry? I have done maintenance already on it. everything is NEW! Oh yeah, I beat that one G35 with no exhaust. I also researched and saw G35's his like 14.7-9 stock? I know I'd kill him from a dig. I guess really what can I do to like go faster without stripping my interrior. This is my DD. I will advance the timing and all a little racing fuel before the race though ^_^*

WAGONIS: YES, the 1/4 mile

i understand that its your dd and thats why i said "easily removable". the seat can be takein in and out in like 5 min, your spare tire is quick, ect. i would say take a half hour and see what all you can take out, that way when the race is over, everything can be put back in pretty quick. im tellin you though, weight in our 2's is key. other than taking stuff out, try light weight rims, "get a set of crappy steelies and some cheap small tires to reduce how much power it takes to turn them, "it wont look pretty but it will help in shaving 1/10's off your time. practice your launches so you dont bog down or slip the clutch. i found that the sweet spot on my 3rd gen is right around 4400rpm. practice your shifting to get precise so you dont miss shift or grind. another key is to learn when to launch. i know you prob know but launch on the last yellow, dont wait for the green. our cars dont take off fast enough to red light you if you do this. the PERFECT reaction time is a .05. that is how long it takes for your mind to see the light, tell your foot to get off the clutch and get the car moving. in my 5s the last time i went, i got a .074 and a .082 rt. "if anyone doesnt believe me, i have the time slip to prove it". if you think about your r/t, you can gain as much as 3 to 4 10th's of a second off your total time right there. if i think of anything else i will let you know

Step one would be Salt in his gas tank. I would also shove a potato in his exhaust. If all else fails, shoot out his tires.

and make sure your possee is around...

srsly tho, you putting money on this race? How much you willing to spend on this endeavor?

I've never driven an MR2 with the 3SGE, but I have driven a G35 and from what I think, there is NO way the 3SGE would beat out a lightly modded G35. Yeah, it's heavier and all, but the G35 I believe is capable of high 13's in stock form for an automatic version. If you can beat that with an N/A MR2 please let me know what you did to do so.

it really isnt that hard to get an na mr2 into the high 13's. a beams with simply intake and exhaust should be nearly a 13 sec car. a 3rd gen 3s will be a little harder but its still not to hard. another thing to do is have hardly any gas in the tank, the day before the race, drive around until you are nearly empty and then just have a 5 gallon gas can with you at the race so you can leave after.

RECKLESS: lol... I dont want to do these things to him b/c
1. he lives 1 minute from me.
2. he's my cousin
3. he'll kick my arse if i do this. lol...
And they are my posse.

DJSKORCH: I have never been to the race track NOR have I ever launched my car from first gear. I've been waiting for something special to drop the clutch on. lol... so 4400 is the sweet spot ehh... I droped it once around 5k and it spinned like 3 whole turns. Ill try 45-4700ish. As for tires and rims, Ill stick with my 93's I got bf goodrich in the rears and falkins in the fronts 95% new.

I'm also worried about the RSX-TYPE S lol... That guy can drive. As far as I know he's got an exhaust. He has a turbo kit but hopefully he wont have it on before the race. lol... that would suck...

Also think I can take a 240 with a SR20 swap with exhaust? there's plenty around here and a buddy has one. say's my cars slow but doesn't know i gotta gen 3. lol...

I dont know about 13's lol... some of these guys are only able to do 14.0 they hit 13's with a ecu tune. So I've read on youtube. lol... I believe my car is probably a 14.3ish car with timing advanced. I was able to keep up/beat a PONTIAC SOLISTICE TURBO on the highway. He killed me on a dig though :*( lol... Plus, I got V-TEC... lol...

You don't have to totally strip the interior, but FOR SURE rip out the passenger seat, any junk in the trunk and the spare tire and stuff, and maybe go anorexic and loose some weight for that extra little bit just kidding.

But seriously, get that passenger seat out, and if you've got an amp for the stereo or subs or anything just take it out.

A gen3 3sge is high 14's to low 15's....beating a g35 probably isn't going to happen. A beams 3sge is low to mid 14's. It would stand a better chance, but still probably won't get it.

You could put that motor, or better yet a beams 3s, in a mk1. Then you can beat him all day.

Remove your doors, passenger seat, stereo, A/C, Dash, Rear bumper, engine deck lid, spare tire, and exhaust from the header back. That might do the trick

No, No, No, just do this on your NA. He got a supercharger installed and it looks like it rocks too. Very cool. It's on the other forum though.

Is there a close valuation when the showdown would be?

So we can eagerly await the outcome!

Reading this got me all worked up!

Taking all those "litlle" things out from the interior is the best you can do for no money input.... and mounting smaller wheels

btw can you explain me that "racing fuel" you mentioned... what kind is it in your country... most people think off high octane fuel as racing fuel... which is hell not as I belive you know high octane fuel only has higher resistance to detonation.... so if that is the case with that fuel you mentioned, it won't do you any good in terms getting more powaaah!

You make it sound like a race against time... which makes me think about the races to space...who will be ready first...wins?

Anyway! Best of luck! I would like to see him beaten!

lol... you guys are crazy. but yeah show down is supposed to be sometime in january. Might I add I did manage to beat a G35 from a roll. only by my front bumper. lol... then we stoped. Honestly I've been waiting for my cousin to race me in his G35 for a while after he stomped my 5s. lol... As for fuel I guess Ill just stick with regular 93. Also my buddie's getting his twin turbo Z ready for me also. lol... Hopefully It all works out for my 3s. If not, I'm comming back in 5yrs with my project BEAMS ^_^....

thought i would chime in....um a G35 Weighs 3600lbs, and with true dual exhaust, cold air intake, plenum spacer, and a high flow lower plenum they only get 243whp and 236wtq. I'm sure with a good launch and a little weight out of your two, you should beat him.
