That car doesn't have cruise. Not anymore at least.

That looks more like it'd hook into the alternator to me.

Nope doesnt go to the alternator. The alternator plug was underneath. I just put that in today but I didnt have the tensioner so I couldnt get good tension on it so I'm not going to do anything to it untill I get that.

Working on it today I'm not geting power to the little plug on the starter when the key is in the on position. Thats not really a problem. I learned how to run a switch and bypass the key start. I'll try it with a jumper wire first just to make sure. When I do put the key in and try to start it, I can only hear the fuel pump kick on. No ticks indicating a low battery. If I get inspired, I'll pull the starter and test it out to see if it's in working condition.

I gotta say, I love working on the 5sfe more than the 4age in the mk1. I have more room in the mk2 bay and much less stuff rusted and picking at my fingers and slicing up my arms. I'm going to get some primer tomorrow to make the car 1 color and protect the bare metal from any rust. If it rains tomorrow, I'll be off work so some work will get done. Should be finishing up the interior and exterior next week then it's mechanical and then getting it on the road. Crappy iphone pics to come.

There was an extra throttle cable in the bay when I got it. I just ripped it out and called it weight savings so I didnt feel bad putting that heavy 94 wing on it. I also fixed my throttle cable. It now mounts in the correct location. You can kind of see it in the first pic of it being in the wrong place. I dont understand how people can do some of this stuff to these poor cars.

toyota is bad about leaving plugs for options that you may not have. I have the passenger side ABS plug in my car and mine didn't come with abs. It was just taped up lol.

Your car may have had cruise at one time though lol and if i recall correctly there should be another smaller plug with it that also goes to the cruise control.

if it just clicks your problem may just be your starter. the relays for the starter never go bad really. If you are getting fuel i would just check your fuses and the starter before i would bypass the key start lol.

I like the push button starter lol. My 20v had one after the ignition started smoking. I'll have some more time to work on it Friday morning or this weekend.
