is this a good buy?
91 toyota mr2 non turbo T-TOP. 5 speed. 177K runs fine. CLEAN TITLE. needs some TLC. body is in very good condtion. Great daily driver/project car. There are few minor dinges if any. NO accidents. Carfax available. paint is alittle faded on right rear quarter and bumpers, and need interior works. Tires are fairly new, still lots of tread. I bought this car as a project, but i don't have time for it now. I drove it from Long Island NY to Phila, PA and it runs fine. I just got it titled and haven't driven it since that day, and it's been sitting there for a few months now. There are some problems i noticed off the bat. It seems to be collecting condensation on the windows (might just be a leak seal door). A/C currently non working (previous owner said it was working fine during last summer, so it might just need freon), the brake handle doesnt stop the car (brake cable might need tightening), and the dash kinda curls up near the front vent(cosmetics). Asking $2900.
i mean the car looks good and all but how much would it cost to get the motor rebuilt so that it will actually last. i don't have much money so this would be my best bet to buy an mr2. |

It would probably cost less to replace the motor than to rebuild it. Price is about right, you can usually talk a seller a down a few hundred bucks.

i recommend not getting it, and waiting for a better deal to come around. unless you can talk him down to 2400 (or lower), pending on the car condition internally. |

I agree, it's a bit high for a 5sfe with that amount of mileage. I wouldn't pay more than $2000 for it. Then again, I paid $8200 after taxes for my 91 NA with 55k miles in 1999.

i dont think that the engine will be in good running condition because the n/a just dont last. i think that you wouldn't be satisfied with not haveing one that is turboed. i know that i can't stand the fact that neither one of my cars are turbocharged. the best thing would prolly wait on that one. but if you just want the body of it i got a engine and tranny for n/a that i dont use.

HA what were u smoking to come up with that response?? NA mr2's have been proven to be very reliable and the engines last for a long looong time if properly maintained. Ask some NA mkII owners here or camry or celica owners. and I assure you, most NA owners are fully satisfied with their NA's. I know I am. 1fastcrx: don't be afraid of the mileage. You will get many many more years out of her. But I would still try to get the seller to lower the price. |
