few questions, just need Clarification
these should be fairly easy but i have no idea if it is normal or not
1) does the check engine light ever come on with you jumping the connectors? i have had my car running really bad before and its never come on before but it does illuminate when you turn the key to "accs" position 2) how do you PERMANENTLY adjust the headlights? my left one is low and i turned the little knob and every time i close the lights it resets 3) my car jerks and makes "slamming" noise when i take off sometimes and shifting sometimes. it almost sounds like the cv shaft are moving forward and making the noise. the cv shafts are both new. any suggestions? 4) how could i possibly test my front and rear motor mounts to determine if they are shot? this is what i am thinking is causing (3). is there anyway to test it other than just looking at them? Thanks in advance for any and all information |

3/4) Well a tell tale sign of worn motor mounts would defienetly be a jerking of the car upon take off, as well as when shifting. My mounts are crap, i have 190XXX on my 92 body and it does the same thing when i shift and start moving. Other than looking at them grad ahold of the intake manifold or TB and try to shake the engine back and forth, it it is fairly easy to move then your motor mounts are prolly shot. If you wanna spend a little more on new ones go with urethane motor mounts. They can handle alot more abuse and are much firmer. ![]() |

i found out what was making the clunking noise. the PO did not have a bolt in the front motor mount bracket that attaches to the engine block. what a jacka$$!
anyone know about the check engine light thing? |

If the code is stored then the light won't be on.

I'm sorry I'm not understanding. When my gmc truck is running lean or rich the check engine light comes on until the problem is fixed or cleared. Are you saying once the code is thrown an then "stored" the engine light goes off? How does the whole process work? How do you check it and how do u clear codes?
