Can someone tell me why not? Why can't the 2.2 handle the blower? If its built right? I keep getting the why try. How about why not try? If they can do this to a Honda why not to the Toyota? Anyone?

Mainly the blower is what I am refering to. I can see how one would work. Why hasn't it been done yet?

Prob the cost factor. A larger displacement motor, or the stock turbo 3sgte replacement seems to be the big winner.

Lack of aftermarket parts and the inability for the 5sfe to handle boost in stock form. The motor would need a rebuild with stronger internals. And the head and cams flow like crap so you would need cams and some serious work done to the head to get it close the ability of a stock 3s head.

I am going to look into this too. Bigger bore...more boost...better engine right man? I am looking to bore my 2.2 30 over next year, new crank from TOM's is $2,500, street cam, lifters, port and polish the head, new main bolts, HKS makes a metal head gasket, found a header also but I'll post what I find for ya cause I can't remember who made it. Checking on a high flow cat later this week and found one aftermarket dual exhaust but it has to be shiped from europe. Boost would be great! 300 horses is all I really want and why have what everyone else has. Copycats!!! Be your own man...forge the way. I'll look and see if I can find some links off the two companies that the other guy posted.

You wont get 300HP from the 5SFE without boost. You can boost it but you need a EMS a good tune and you need to replace the pistons / rods.
Forget 30 over on the bore or you will be blowing HGs I think 20 is pushing it from what I remember. What new crank are you talking about? There's nothing wrong with the stock crank, it's as strong or stronger than the 3S. As far as bolt ons there Headers / Intake / Exhaust. You can make your own intake or wait for mine to come out, there's Headers on Ebay and theres a few exhaust systems like the NATKO. You can reach about 220hp or so if you do: 98+ camry Oil Pump ITBs 4-2-1 Header Cams 11.5:1 pistons Rods Lightened flywheel Exhaust Port and Polish Injectors Fuel Pump EMS + Tune May be forgetting a few things but that should get you up there, be prepared to spend around 4-5K doing it YOURSELF... this is why nobody really invests much into the 5S although I think it would be a fun motor. ![]() |

The 5SFE IS a 2.2L there is no Stroker Crank for the 5S that has been confirmed to work. That crank is used to stroke the 3SGTE (which is what a 5S crank can be used on)

Just going off the claims from the site. That's all. It's going to be next summer anyway...but it shall be done. Not sure of any places here in NC to do the V-6 swap. I would want someone who has done it before to do it seeing they have already worked all the kinks out. If the swap is the same or less as upgrading the 5S then that;s the way to go. I just want something other than the norm. If you know one let me know. I'd be willing to travel somewhere within 2-4 hours to drop it off. Does the new camery supercharged motor fit? If so does the 6 speed tranny fit in. How sweet would that be? Thanks

Don't believe their regrinds. They're from tom's. Why would such a toyota high performance company use regrinds?

Regrinds are fine...dont trust welded ones as they last 60k vs regrinds...for life of the original cam...
I use regrind in everything i do buit i can make billets as well. NC? Node lives there and he has done 2 already im on the west coast here and am working on 2 swaps right now. Possibly a third and fourth... Thew 1mz v6 s/c can go in so can the 5vz s/c engine. No six speed tho as there isnt one attached to these engines. |
