    Does the flywheel from a 3SGE fit a 5SFE?

Yeah... I read something somewhere about using the pressure plate from a 3SGE/GTE on the 5SFE. Like if you got the pressure plate, you can use the same clutch+flywheel that the 3SGTE uses... Is this true?

I obviously am asking this because I want to get a lightweight flywheel.
I know I'm not getting power, but I had one on my 3000GT and God did I love that thing. Plus the clutch is slipping like crazy and it's time to change it, so I might as well.

A clutch + flywheel kit for the 3SGTE is $300, while the flywheel alone for the 5SFE is like umpteen-million dollars.

I wanna say no. I wanna say the 3SGE and 5SFE use the same clutch kit which means clutch and pressure plate are the same, but the 3SGE and 5SFE have different flywheel bolt patterns.

However, several of the aftermarket lightweight flywheels will fit the 3S and the 5S. In that case youd use a clutch disk and TOB from a 5S, and the pressure plate from a 3S.

    Make any sense?

When I tried to use a stock 5s flywheel on a 3sge, the bolt pattern was slightly off. The difference is so slight that you might be able to take a dremel and widen the holes ever so slightly to get it to work. This may be the reason why some have reported that oem 5s flywheels do work. It's possible that some re-manufacturers are already doing this.

Thats the problem with any of em (OEM ones that is), the bolt pattern is slightly off. But the aftermarket ones (I know Fidanza and ACT come to mind) have mildly elongated the bolt holes so they DO line up.

And to further add to the confusion, there IS a 3SGTE flywheel that WILL bolt up to a 5SFE but not 2nd and 3rd gen 3SGE/3SGTEs (not sure about first gen ones). The ST165 AllTrac/GT4 flywheel. Its bolt pattern is that of a 5S but the PP bolt pattern is that of a standard 3S. So most stroker guys either run an OEM 165 flywheel, or one of the aftermarket ones that fit both.

Well I'm thinking one of those lame-o El Cheapo Clutch-O from eBay kits that bring the PPlate, clutch pack and the flywheel, all directly from China. The thing is that these kits are for 3SGTEs and not my super-awesomely mind-blowing 5SFE.

I just want to eke out that extra pep from a lightweight flywheel, and my clutch is slipping like mad. I also need synchros, but I haven't seen those anywhere.

Synchros you need to get from a dealership. Like, call Lithia Toyota and talk to Aaron or Tracy about it.

    Nice, thanks...

So, a final question. Should I buy this????

Remember, I'm holding you completely responsible, and if it doesn't fit, you'll have to pay me back what it cost me.

I dont know if the F1 racing flywheel has the elgongated holes and I know you cant use the 3SGTE clutch disk.

So, no. You should prolly find a LWFW for a 5S.

I dont know what to tell you dude. You have to pay to play, you know how much I spent on MY flywheel and clutch kit? 700 bucks. Clutch was like 450 and the flywheel was 250.

The price on that flywheel in the auction you listed - the Fidanza one, thats a good deal. Couple that with an OEM Exedy 5S clutch kit, and you got a good clutch/LWFW combo for ~400 bucks.

    Holy fuhjeebus....

I'll have to do that... It's that the flywheel clutch kit i got for my ex-3000GT was ~$300... I'm used to that kind of thing, but I guess I'll have to sweat it :/
