vin # on the engine

ok i feel kinda stupid asking this but w/e i was wondering if there is a vin # on the engine and if so where can i find it

There's not a VIN number, but there is an engine number. Here's a diagram from the BGB.

The engine serial number is linked to the VIN so stolen engines can be tracked.

the vin is stamped on a plate and rivited onto the block. its on the oil filter side, by the tranny bolt.
