Yeah, I was with AT&T before they went the Cingular way and stuck with Cingular until they went back as AT&T. For the last year I was with them, I was using my PDA phone as a GoPhone while using it with the MediaNet unlimited package so I got my e-mails and used Sykpe on it to make free calls.

Yea, I don't see any reason to go contract. I get free nights and weekends..... well 3k night & weekend minutes with a $20 refill, but hell, I probably use like 30 max. So it's basically free!

You can also use a GoPhone type service with an unlimited data package and use it on a smartphone with Skype. Now granted VoIP has not been perfected on Windows Mobile devices but it is possible. One last solution is to follow this guys advice: Check this out, pretty good reading if you're willing to follow his instructions. |

Canadam, Ive had MANY Sony Ericsson phones and theyre awesome. Better than any of the Motorolas, Nokias, etc in their class.
I am a total phone geek, and I greatly support Sony Ericsson phones. Love em. You should give one a try sometime. |

I used to buy Sony products exclusively. Basically every one has let me down in some form, not always catastrophic. Sony would never help a dedicated customer out with a warranty grace period (stuff always went wrong months if not weeks after the manufacturer warranty expired). Therefore, they can juggle my berries

Why are the prices so high? Just because people are willing to pay it I suppose... I remember when I got my first cell phone and my plan was $29... I think that was the high plan, or the only one at least which offered a fair bit.... I don't see any plans at that price anymore....
Sure there was nothing fancy about it, it was a phone and it called people and it worked. I wish I could find something like that again. Until then I refuse to pay $60-100 a month.

I actually consider $100 a month a bargain. Because the way I figure it, I pay $100 a month for unlimited minutes, so I can cancel my home phone and just use my cell phone instead. So I am actually saving on my home phone about $40 a month.

^ Damn dude, that is a good deal. I'd probably use up all 500 minutes in less then a week, but for what it is it's a great deal.

I pay 62 for 700 anytime, 5000 weekend (with rollover, rollover makes a huge difference cause i have a CRAPLOAD of rollover minutes so its impossible for me right now to go over), unlimited data, text, etc.
Not too bad. |

Sprint does not have rollover. They do however have a 1250, 2500 min plan for $49.99 and 99.99, respectively.
Another really cool trick is using skype or another VOIP service on a smart phone with the unlimited data or grandcentral with 'Any 3' (TMobile Circle) and then have GC forward all calls from that one number. Last edited by bean; 02-16-2008 at 07:28 PM. |

I'm with sprint and they have the greatest plan ever. It's the free incoming plan and I have that paired with the unlimited nights and weekends starting at 7 and it's about $70. I only have 300 anytime minutes a month but because I don't really call anyone, because everyone usually calls me, I only use about 50. Sprint isn't the best service out there at all but because of this free incoming plan I use about 10,000 minutes a month and don't get charged a dime for it, and I also have free roaming.

Can't complain at all
The one warning I had by the salesman was that because of the lack of a QWERTY board, it wasn't great for text messaging. I typically don't text much anyway, except the transcriber recognizes and converts my handwriting/printing to text so well, I actually have been making use of it It functions well as a phone, I can hear well and people seem to be hearing me well, and the reception is much better than my previous phone. I'm looking for a FM Transmitter/Charging dock for my 4Runner for it, like are available for iPods. With an 8 gig microSD card, this holds more than my mini did. |

PocketCM Contacts & Keyboard
Heres a keyboard that will work with the Touch, very similar to iPhone's keyboard. Its designed not to trigger letters until you lift your finger OFF the key instead of on so you can make sure youre on the right letter. I really want a Touch, but dont want to shell out $350 up front for it. |
