I sold everything as a package on the cheap to help him out. I sold him $ a $400 set-up for $250, and threw in the lines to make it $300. Why? I wanted to help him out. If he can't use it and doesn't want it, then I want it all back so I can sell it all at face value. Which would be $450 ($400 + $50) Why is that screwed up? I sold the suspension to him cheap to help him out, as a favor. Either he can keep it all and do as he will, or give it all back. As I said, I could have gotten $400 easy for the set-up from someone else, if I wasn't doing any "favors." He said it would work on his car, so I believed him and sold it all to him as a favor. Now it doesn't fit, but instead of just returning it all so I can sell it at face value ($400 + $50), he sells the suspension (like I said, worth an easy $400) and wants to return the lines, which are worth about the $50. Who's screwed up? As others have said, that's shady and ****ed up. It was sold on the cheap as a favor. If I'd known it wasn't going to fit, I'd of sold it for $400 to someone who could use it. None of it fit, the suspension or brakes lines. If he wanted to keep the suspension and sell it, he can keep the brake lines and give me the full amount owed...or he can return everything so I can sell it at full face value. Why is that such a hard concept to grasp? Go take an economics class. It's not a over $50. The difference between $250 and the $450 I could have gotten for everything on HT is a $200 swing. $200 is a lot of money to me. That's my car insurance for 6 months. Well I would stop doing the favors then... I myself am never doing anyone favors again...
I have learned that selling crap to friends just screws things in the long run, therefore screw selling S H I T to buddies or anyone i know |

I don't think it's just "don't sell to people you know." Favors can backfire. Giving him a good price is one thing, but I should have known better; I should have gotten all the money up front. If I'd gotten all the money up, I wouldn't be in this situation.Quote:

How can some of you not understand this? He sold these items to a so called FRIEND who didn't pay him all the money up front and then the friend sold the parts to some one else but now wants to give back the brake lines that he can't sell for a profit. How is that so hard to understand? He owes you the rest of your money , end of story.
Which is why i say never sell to friends or family because they alway's think that you should give them a deal or that the rules are different for them. |

we understand, we're seeing a different side of the story. if you need the money dont cut deals. it sounds like he was concerned about the money before he even sold it. theres no question about owing the rest of the money, thats obvious.. he offered to pay the money and square the deal. he could take the money and lines and sell the lines off for 50 bucks, if he didnt like how his friend delt with it he just doesnt have to call that person a friend anymore. its worth knowing where you stand with people, and this is how you find out. can either take the money and move on or fight about it trying to split hairs over more money. 50 bucks to ditch people you dont need is worth it.
if you cant deal with your own family you've got some ****** family man.. the rules ARE different for family. |

As SE-RMR2 and muffinman said, never sell to friends or family because they always think you should give them a deal and that the rules are different for them. That's obviously the case here. |

Exactly.
This falls under one of two possibilities: A. Your friend is mediocre tool who obviously has no class. Cut that **** out. B. You are a douchebag who wasn't completely honest so you got screwed back. |

you are changing the terms and conditions of the sale AFTER the sale.. you asked 250 for the suspension, hes trying to give you 250 for the suspension, but now you're asking for 300 for the suspension even though you already agreed on 250. not only that, but you're trying to make someone buy car parts that dont even fit on their car. yeah he sold them off, but hes trying to give you what you asked for them. you really dont own the parts after you sell them, you dont have a right to determine what he sells them for.
it sounds like you're trying to back out of the deal because you have sellers remorse, even though hes trying to pay up.. you're asking more than what you agreed on. it would be like buying stuff from a store on sale, and reselling it to someone else.. then the store calls and demands more money. thats not going to fly with anyone. |

We worked out an arrangement that works out for the both of us and makes everyone happy. He gave me the $50 owed for the suspension and I took the brake lines back no issues. He's helping me do a wire tuck on my show car. I've never done a wire tuck before, and will really appreciate the help. Once he helps me do the tuck on my car (much needed help, hahaha), I'll return the favor and lend a hand in return when he's doing a tuck on his newest show car. This will save me money, time, and head-ache without costing anyone a dime, so it works out for the both of us.
