Price check: 3s-gte
I will soon have the one from my parts car for sale...
It's a '93 year 3s-gte, all accessories (alternator, a/c, etc.), in good working order (haven't taken compression yet, but this is ASSuming that it checks good). Includes harness, ECU, turbo, IC, and all the piping. Basically, everything from the air filter to the exhaust manifold is included. The catch: I believe the turbo needs a rebuild. It doesn't seem to be spooling, but I haven't adamently checked (previous owner said it wasn't spooling), and I think that it is the case because when I was driving it from the seller to my place (45mi) I never got that awesome boosty feeling. However, on that trip, the engine ran beautiful. Mileage unknown, with no history. ![]() Like I said though... Ran beautiful. Could definately use a steam cleaning, though. Looks like it's been sitting. How much do you think I can get for it? Would it be better if I tried to sell some of the stuff seperate (like the turbo, ECU, harness, etc.)? And by better, I mean get more money. I'm trying to offset as much of the cost for my project as I can. Not looking to get rich, but every little bit helps... It DOES NOT include the transmission or axels though. I need them... Last edited by U-235; 08-28-2008 at 05:45 AM.. Reason: I killed the cat |

Have any pics? If the turbo is bad, you might want to send it into ATS and get a core price for it. ECU's go for around $50. The engine harness is in a good demand. Maybe $120?

From what I can tell he is just checking how much the engine would go for. Now I'm no 3S-GTE expert but with all that you listed I would say around $600-$750.

Yeah, basically, this is kind of a feeler... I wanted to get a good handle on what I could possibly fetch for it. I was thinking maybe 900USD provided the compression checked good.
My reasoning is that I've seen quite a few gen2 engines go for about 1.8-2k on e-bay after rebuild, and I've seen rebuild kits for the engine go for about 450USD, and for the turbo 150USD. So even then, it's a steal if you work for free. But I wanted the opinion of the community first. ![]() I'll also have to check for things like whether or not it had any work done, e.g., head porting, cams, pistons etc. that may affect pricing. But 750 sounds reasonable. I'll see how it goes when I actually get it out of the vehicle and clean it off. No oil leaks from what I can see either, so I guess that's a bonus too. |
